• 5 Ways to Overcome Loneliness

The current epidemic has created many unintended consequences.  One is to be isolated, away from friends, relatives, and colleagues.

    Overcome Loneliness

Since many businesses have moved to virtual workshops, most of us have lost the benefit of daily social connections.  Of course, Zoom and other vehicles may try to fill in the blanks, but we’ve learned that long-term, touch, feeling, and personal interaction with others are immutable.

Working with isolation can be difficult for both family and individuals.  This can be especially challenging for single, responsible and young people, many of whom are recent college graduates who want to make their mark in life.

Most young adults have become accustomed to seemingly continuous social activities.  Dating, parties, shopping tours, restaurants, and travel events were the norm.  Outbreaks of Covid-19 have largely reduced or eliminated most of these gate-tigers.

Spending most of their time at home can cause young people to experience high levels of loneliness.  It can cause anxiety and frustration and, as a result, even negatively affect work performance.

Here are five positive ways young people can cope with the epidemic.

      1. Make connections with like-minded friends.

Porch groups and small gatherings with the right social distance have proven to work well in dealing with the need to stay with a group.  But this group should be limited to positive, like-minded people, as opposed to others who may not share your values.  Alcohol should be limited.  Phone, text, email, and social media can help you stay in touch with your network and far-flung friends.

      2. Solve your problems with your family.

Keep in touch with family members.  Do not hesitate to discuss personal concerns or issues with a parent or sibling, respected colleague or mentor, a life trainer, or even pastor members.

      3. Improve your skills.

Spending extra time at home can be associated with someone’s skills.  You can take online courses to increase your knowledge and professional development prospects.  One may learn a new hobby, a foreign language, or volunteer to make another less fortunate.  Everyone creates a feeling of positive energy and fulfillment rather than despair.

      4. Practice.

A practice program can help relieve stress and anxiety. It can amass perseverance and energy and help you rest better.  You can run or walk outside without a mask as long as you stay away properly.  One can enjoy the experience by going to a peaceful setting like a park.  Yoga and other types of internal activities can help improve your body and soul.

      5. Strengthen your relationship with God.

Last but not least, develop a strong faith in God.  Believe that God will help you overcome any personal crisis related to the epidemic.  Believing in higher energy can act as a beacon when you feel frustrated. You are never alone because God is reliable with you.
